7 Ways to Be More Productive

Have you ever had one of those days when you knew that the only thing you'll get accomplished that day is converting oxygen into carbon dioxide for 8 hours? Who hasn't? In today's busy world, it's becoming more and more harder to stay motivated and productive at work with more things to do and less time to do them.

Paul J. Meyer once said that "productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort". And being productive means using your time efficiently and cleverly to accomplish given tasks. Unfortunately, studies have shown that we're less able to do that when we're faced with a ton of work as our levels of stress rises. So, to help you decrease the number of those days of idleness and non-productivity to a minimum, we came up with 5 amazing tips to increase productivity in a recent article, and we're now providing you with 7 more to practice:

    1.    Schedule the most complicated and time consuming tasks to the time of day when you're most productive, in order to get them done quicker. Whether it's early in the morning or after you had your lunch break, figure out what time you're most efficient and use it wisely.

    2.    Once you get to that difficult task, we highly recommend you eliminate all sorts of distraction. Put your cell-phone and watch away, don't check your emails, Facebook page, Twitter… etc, and avoid distraction from your colleagues by wearing a headset and listening to music, the music will help you focus and the headset will work as an imaginary "DON'T DISTURB" sign.

    3.    If checklists don't work for you and put extra pressure on your shoulders, then we suggest you replace them with setting a goal for the day. Decide on what you would like to accomplish that day, as you'll have a sense of direction and you'll be spending the day achieving that goal.

    4.    Don't postpone the difficult and essential tasks till the end of the day, because you'll probably end up postponing them to the next day. Just get them done! (see 1)

    5.    If you're short on time, ask for a hand.

    6.    Combine similar tasks, and do them together. Reply to all your emails at the same time, make all phone calls at another, run all errands once a day… etc, instead of distracting yourself by sneaking a task every now and then. You'll waste less time and get more tasks done.

    7.    Keep your office space organized and clutter-free, not only will you save time searching for things, but you'll also feel a lot better! After all, who likes to stare at the ton of paperwork waiting to be done all day? So always remember that an organized office means an organized mind.
